The Black Hills Astronomical Society (BHAS) meets on the third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. (September through May) at the Journey Museum, 222 New York Street.
Regular meetings are not held during the months of June, July, and August, but we then have frequent Summer Star Parties at Hidden Valley Observatory.Click here for Meeting Dates and Presentation Titles & Star Party Dates
On September 27, weather permitting, we plan to hold a special star party SE of Rapid City on the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands. Click here for a map and directions.
Our September meeting will be on the 2nd Monday, September 8 this year.

NASA Space Place - Hey kids ... Come on in and check out our games, animations, projects, and fun facts about Earth, space and technology.
Stardust Mission - NASA's amazing mission to capture comet dust and return it to Earth! Stardust Spacecraft encounters the comet on Jan. 2, 2004. Of special interest, is that Badlands Observatory in Quinn, SD provided very useful telescopic observational data to NASA on the comet's position.
Powers of 10 - View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude and enter then enter the microscopic world!
